One thermostat, two floors

A downstairs thermostat can’t feel what’s happening upstairs. So when the main floor hits the setpoint, the system shuts off — while the bedrooms are still 8° behind.

CAUSE 03

Undersized return ducts

If the return path is too small or leaky, upstairs air keeps recirculating warm instead of getting cooled. You can run a perfectly sized AC and still not hit comfort if the return can’t keep up.

West-facing windows & insulation gaps
